Tuition fees 2025/2026

Studying at Lancaster University Leipzig means you must pay an annual tuition fee. This fee covers the costs associated with teaching, examinations, assessment and graduation.

Course fees are dependent on which degree programme you pursue and your country of origin.

Undergraduate programmes

For undergraduate students Lancaster University Leipzig has two different types of tuition fee (see table below).

Please note: We offer student finance options for applicants from the EU/UK/EEA area through our partners, BrainCapital and FINS.

Postgraduate programmes

Additional costs

Upon arrival in Germany, all students are required to:

• pay for their course materials, e.g. books, notepads
• be covered by a valid public or private health insurance. The cost per month is up to €120 (depending on the insurance provider)
• purchase the local transportation ticket, also known as Deutschlandsemesterticket which provides travel on nationwide local busses, trams, S-Bahn, regional trains and selected fast trains throughout Germany

Annual ticket costs for the travel pass is €352,80 per Academic Year*.

You will be able to activate your ticket in the App LeipzigMOVE or get a smart card in the LVB Service Center. Further information will be shared during the Welcome Week. The compulsory amount of €352,80 will be invoiced by Lancaster University Leipzig along with the second half of your tuition fees in week 8 of classes. It is mandatory to have a local transportation ticket and it is not possible to opt out.
