Dr. Christoph Jansen’s Innovative Contributions Accepted at NeurIPS 2024

09 Oct 2024

Lancaster University Leipzig proudly announces that Dr. Christoph Jansen, Assistant Professor in Computer Science, has had two innovative papers accepted at the prestigious NeurIPS 2024 conference.

These significant contributions, which include one paper selected as a spotlight presentation, are the result of a successful collaboration with researchers from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Their work reflects cutting-edge advancements in statistical methodologies and machine learning frameworks, further cementing Lancaster University Leipzig’s role in leading academic research.

The first, titled “Statistical Multicriteria Benchmarking via the GSD-Front”, introduces a novel approach to comparing machine learning classifiers using a generalized stochastic dominance (GSD) ordering. This paper presents the GSD-front as an information-efficient alternative to the classical Pareto-front, providing robust methods to handle statistical uncertainty and allowing for comparisons based on multiple quality metrics simultaneously.

The second paper, “Reciprocal Learning”, explores a new paradigm in artificial intelligence, focusing on mutual learning processes between systems, pushing the boundaries of collaborative AI research.
