LU Leipzig to Host Filmmaker Daniel A. Wunderer for Panel on AI and Warfare

On Monday, November 4, we cordially invite you to join us for an exciting public panel discussion on campus with Daniel Andrew Wunderer, director of the award-winning documentary ‘Flash Wars’. Daniel is a filmmaker from South Tyrol. He studied screenwriting, history, media, and communication in Austria, Italy, Germany, Finland, and the UK. After contributing to various documentaries and feature films, he began writing and directing his own projects. In 2020, he co-directed the ARTE documentary “Money Bots”.
His 2024 full-length documentary ‘Flash Wars’ explores the profound impact of artificial intelligence on rapidly evolving battlefields worldwide. Following international experts, soldiers, roboticists, and activists, the film delves into the cutting-edge technologies shaping modern conflict. From the trenches of Ukraine to the streets of New York and the depths of cyberspace to the intricacies of the human brain, it highlights potential future conflict zones and examines how AI is already redefining warfare. With “Flash Wars,” Daniel was nominated for the Franz-Grabner Award and won the META Award for media ethics in 2024. He currently lives in Vienna, Austria.
Join us on campus for an insightful afternoon on autonomous weapons, artificial intelligence and the future of warfare. Public screening of the documentary ‘Flash Wars’ starts at 16:00 on the 1st Floor of the LU Leipzig Campus. Following the documentary, join us for the public panel discussion with Daniel at 18:00, also on the 1st Floor.
